Nicky Swan is a passionate advocate for well funded and researched biosecurity measures and the role they play in supporting planetary health. Swan has spent decades working at the intersection of environmental risk, tourism, emergency response, and ecosystem protection. Her work has helped shape how governments, industries, and communities prepare for increasingly complex biological and environmental threats in a rapidly changing world.
Her combination of extreme human endurance and deep expertise in planetary risk makes her perspective uniquely relevant at a moment when climate change, biodiversity loss, global trade, tourism, food systems, and public safety are becoming increasingly interconnected.
Chris Turner Returns Home to Calgary
Joining Swan is celebrated Canadian author and journalist Chris Turner, a returning Calgarian now based in Halifax, whose work has helped shape climate conversations across Canada for decades.
Turner is widely recognized as one of Canada’s most influential climate writers and thinkers. Through acclaimed books including The Geography of Hope and How to Be a Climate Optimist, he has chronicled the people, technologies, policies, and movements working to build a more sustainable future.
Long before climate became a mainstream business issue, Turner was reporting on the transformational forces reshaping energy, cities, economics, and society. His work has consistently challenged audiences to move beyond fear and polarization toward imagination, possibility, and action.
